Petwalk Solutions GmbH was founded in 2010 as the result of a research project. Since then many hours have been spent developing our product, the petWALK pet door. We were driven by two mindsets: to give animals the freedom to go outside as they please and to maintain the energy efficiency of one’s living space. 

Today, over a decade after the company was founded, the development process is still going strong. We are convinced that petWALK pet doors will remain the most modern and progressive solution for pet doors on the market. In the year 2018 petWALK became “smart” and since then, has the ability to be controlled even from afar by an extension called “petWALK.control”. What’s great about this: Even older doors can be upgraded very easily.

There are still a lot ideas for further developing our product and we can’t wait to tell you more about it in the future.

A lot of times you can’t even imagine the amount of technological miracles that are built within our products. Our petWALK doors are a combination of hardware and software to ensure the best possible user experience for cats, dogs and humans alike. 🙂

Sensors, motors, control boards, small sublimates, antennas, displays, frames, foam parts, insulations and seals – more than just one of each part is built within our products (in fact petWALK doors consist of more than 150 individual parts!) Even apart from that, we only make use of high quality components: heat resistant adhesives, the thickest foam for insulations, the safest coatings for the closing mechanism and long-living plastics are all part of our daily usage. If you combine all this technology with our frame (you could say the “skeleton”) as well as our custom made software, you’ll get an unbeatable product, which of course comes with a price that sets our pet doors apart. 

Such an individual product comes with its own set of challenges: due to the development of an actual “door for pets” almost all individual parts have to be crafted as such. Many companies, much bigger than us, have access to a supply of standard components. These components however are oftentimes outsourced to other countries – not here at petWALK. Our parts are being produced by hand with minimal technological resources, so that they can be assembled by our creative engineers.

Hard to believe: since most of our products, the exception being the remote control, battery and RFID tags, are produced in Austria and Germany, we can proudly announce that all our pet doors are “made in Germany & Austria”.

You can achieve efficient heating by isolating your doors and windows, since that’s where most of your warmth gets lost. Our petWALK doors provide excellent protection from heating loss, since they are designed to isolate and keep the heat inside your house. The standard model manages to reach 0.811 W/(m²K). If you choose to take advantage of our optional isolation, you will achieve a number of 0.523 W/(m²K).
